1. Introduction
Motanya ("we", "us", "our") is a systems engineering practice based in Nairobi, Kenya. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit motanya.co.ke or get in touch with us, why we collect it, and how we handle it. It applies to visitors of this website and to prospective and existing clients who contact us through it.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in two ways:
- Information you provide directly — when you submit the contact form, this can include your name, email address, phone number, the service you're enquiring about, and any message you send us.
- Information collected automatically — basic technical data such as your browser type, device type, and general usage patterns on the site, collected through standard hosting and analytics infrastructure. We do not use this data to identify you individually.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To respond to enquiries submitted through the contact form.
- To scope, discuss, and deliver work you've asked us about.
- To maintain records of client communication for our own accountability.
- To keep the website functioning correctly and securely.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share limited information with service providers who support our operations — for example, our website hosting provider and email delivery service — solely to the extent needed for them to perform that function, and under obligations to keep it confidential.
We may also disclose information where required to do so by Kenyan law or a valid legal process.
5. Data Retention
We retain enquiry and client communication data for as long as it's reasonably needed to manage the relationship, fulfil any related engagement, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. You can ask us to delete information that isn't subject to a legal retention requirement at any time.
6. Your Rights
Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request its correction or deletion, object to or restrict certain processing, and request a copy of it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
7. Cookies
The site may use a small number of essential cookies required for it to function correctly. We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated accordingly.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information you share with us against unauthorised access, alteration, or loss. No method of transmission over the internet is entirely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Children's Privacy
This site and our services are directed at businesses, not children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
